Supporting schools to see, hear and hold children and young people's mental wellbeing

We aim to encourage as many young people as possible to spend up to 24 hours with a weighted back pack on their back, in order to experience the realities of living with a mental health difficulty.

Shadow on my back

In order to raise awareness of the crippling impact that living with a mental health difficulty can have on everyday life, we are promoting an initiative called the Shadow On My Back Campaign.

We aim to encourage as many young people as possible to spend up to 24 hours with a weighted back pack on their back, in order to experience the realities of living with a mental health difficulty.

Whilst we encourage participants to obtain sponsorship for their endeavour, this is not the primary aim of the campaign.  Our primary focus is to raise awareness and understanding of the crippling impact that mental health difficulties can have on the lives of young people and the extent to which this pervades every aspect of their lives, including their ability to interact socially, engage academically and participate in a full and active life.

If you or your school would be interested in participating in the Shadow On My Back Campaign, please contact us at the Mind Map for further details.
