Supporting schools to see, hear and hold children and young people's mental wellbeing

About us

We are a Bedford based charity working in schools in the Bedfordshire area to raise awareness and understanding of the issues affecting children and young people's mental health.

We believe that through improved understanding of mental health difficulties and the need for greater support of emotional well being in schools, children, young people and their carers will be better equipped to help prevent and manage the mental health difficulties that so many children and young people are struggling with today.

Our work is focussed in schools, with children from Reception to Year 9. We offer a range of early intervention workshops to children and teachers aimed at facilitating emotional literacy, developing resilience skills and promoting self-understanding. For the older year groups, we also offer question and answer sessions around the more common mental health difficulties in order to improve understanding and encourage early intervention. We also work with teachers and school staff to help understand and address some of the ways in which mental ill health can present in children's behaviour in the classroom.

Where possible, we also seek to offer fully trained counsellors in schools so that young people can more easily access the mental health support they need.

All our services are offered free of charge. We simply ask that schools commit to at least one aspect of whole school fundraising on behalf of the charity. Not only does this provide much needed funds, it also makes mental well being a whole school issue and a whole school responsibility. Our hope is that by raising awareness in this way, it will go some way towards reducing the stigma still attached to mental ill health.

Our goal is that by providing a range of tools to help children and young people understand and communicate their difficulties, they will feel seen, heard and held by the adults in their world, and that, in so doing, we will help to address the ever increasing numbers of children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties in our schools today.

We would be delighted if you would like to join us on our journey. We have a range of ways in which you can help and support the work we are doing and we would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions of your own. Alternatively, please be in touch if you would like to know more about the services we offer.

We look forward to hearing from you.
